This website was created by the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees (NABT), the professional organization for Chapter 7 (liquidating) bankruptcy trustees. It was originally known as "www.bankruptcysales.com" and was designed to assist trustees in marketing bankruptcy assets for sale. In most cases, bankruptcy estates do not have any funds to pay for advertisement until the asset is sold. Accordingly, this website was designed to allow bankruptcy professionals an opportunity to advertise their bankruptcy sales with little or no cost to the bankruptcy estate.
In 2013, the website was expanded and renamed "MarketAssetsForSale.com" to serve the needs of various sellers of distressed assets, including bankruptcy trustees, receivers, assignees for the benefits of creditors, banks, and others. This website serves as a "classified ad" section of the internet that lists distressed assets and sales. Unlike other websites, sales are not finalized or closed here, but with the buyer or buyer's agent directly.
